2014

The 3rd Fish 4 Kidz event

Here is a copy of the 2014 poster

2014  was the third year of Fish 4 Kidz, as with all new things each year has little changes, it needs tweeking to get things to go correctly. It doesn't just have to be enjoyable for the children, it has to be enjoyable for everyone taking part, including the organizers. This year the booking in was changed again, we booked in upstairs in the Eastbourne Angling Association,

but with the help of Steve Frost's wife (Chermaine), table signs

were designed and made, each table sign is double sided,

on each side a number (1 to 20) and also a slot to insert a

card with the name of the steward, each steward was allocated

a table. Each steward was given a pack that included;the names of the children they

were stewarding, the free membership for the Eastbourne Nomads ac

for each child, and the children Participation certificate.

Also each steward was issued with the equipment (rods, reels, tripods)

that were required by their children. And all the steward were issued

with; a bucket, leads, rigs, bait, a pack with cards (for recording the fish), a pen and a points per size per species card, also a goody bag for each child.

(It looks like chaos, but it's organized chaos)

GOODY BAGS

The items for this years goody bags were donated by George Cunningham of TronixPro.

TronixPro gave 80 of each of the following;
1. Tronixpro box sticker

2. HTO sticker
3. Fish logo sticker
4. Rig winder
5. Packet of size 4 crab hooks
6. Packet of size 4 diamond eye swivels
7. Packet of pink oval beads.

Because we didn't have a fishing magazine visiting and covering this years event (although Barney Wright still came, he hadn't launched his new magazine by then), Steve put out an appeal for Sea Fishing magazines. There was a brilliant response. Allan Mathews came down from London with a pile of mags, local angler Peter Cornwell gave a load and the rest of the magazines were donated by Tony Kirrage of Tony's Tackle.

Also in the bag was a Leaflet about Bassboots

(they donated prizes of smocks and baseball

caps, stickers) (Malcolm Scullion of Bassboots)

The RNLI

donated

items for

the goody

bags, they were;

1. Stay Safe book
2. RNLI Membership booklet
3. Guide to Beach Safety booklet
4. On the beach booklet
5. Storm Force RNLI children's club members booklet
6. Beach signs quiz 1
7. Beach signs quiz 2
8. Stay safe on the beach sheet
9. Picture of the inshore lifeboat to colour in
10. Picture of the offshore lifeboat to colour in
11. Support our Lifeboats window sticker
12. Very fancy looking pencil with rubber
13. Keyring with trolley token

The Angling Trust

sent enough

Angling Trust

stickers, 1 for every bag.

Steve Frost printed the following paperwork from Fish 4 Kidz for every bag:
1. Sponsors sheet
2. Thank you sheet
3. Feedback sheet

Steve also put a Lolly pop in every bag

All of the bags were donated by Tidmas Townsend.

CONTENTS OF THE 2014 GOODY BAG

The Sponsors

As with the previous years, Fish 4 Kidz was not short of Sponsors and support.

The organizers are the same as before, they are; the "Eastbourne Nomads Angling Club"                                 ,

the "Anglers Den"

                                                                                          , the "Anderida Club"                              ,

"Tony's Tackle"                                                                                                                                      , "A.T. Tackle"

                      the Eastbourne Angling Association"

                                                                     and the "Eastbourne R.N.L.I."

The Sponsors this years were "Rovex",

they supplied rods and reels for the

children to use in Fish 4 Kidz

The prizes for the children who caught fish were donated by "Pure Fishing"

Malcolm Scullion contacted Steve Frost through Facebook, he owns a company called "BassBoots"

Malcolm donated a smock and some baseball caps for the prize fund.

Steve Holmes contacted Steve Frost to tell him about a great new DVD

he had made, his business was called "Where to Shore Fish".

Steve asked him if he would like to donate some DVD's to the prize

fund. Steve Holmes donated 5 DVD's

Paul Parson of "P.P.H. Ltd"

gave a cash donation to

pay for inks, paper,

card etc.

Steve spoke Andy Thomas, the manager of Eastbourne's "Cineworld",

Andy gladly donated a family ticket to the prize fund.

Drinks and crisp snacks were donated by Booker

of Eastbourne. This meant that every child had

a drink and something to eat while they were

fishing.

Bob, the owner of B.F.J. Engraving LTD

said that he would engrave the trophy

(donated by Stephen Lloyd MP) for the

winning child.

Local angler (and friend) Joe Legate very kindly donated a box and some rods that he wasn't

using to the prize fund.

Once again the presentation of prizes to all the lucky children was made by Stephen Lloyd

Eastbourne's MP. I think Stephen enjoyed it as much as the children did.

This year there were so many prizes that every child that caught a fish was lucky enough to get

a prize, this was amazing.Sadly, Fish 4 Kidz cannot guarantee this every year.

THANK YOU's

A big Thank you to all those mentioned above, and also to the following;

Local angler "Ian Hopper" made all of the rigs used by the children, all of the line, hooks and bits used to make the rigs were donated by the "Anglers Den".

The "Eastbourne Borough Council"

very kindly gave FREE parking in

certain car parks.

Paul Sandalls very kindly contacted all of the media (Newspapers, New channels, Radio Stations etc) to imform them about "Fish 4 Kidz", one day one of the big papers or news channels may come and cover our event.

Rob Hughes and his team came with their cameras and covered our event for "Tight Lines"

of "SKY TV"

Tim McPhearson also covered this years event for Sussex Angling Media.

Thanks also need to go out to all the bait diggers that donated lug worm for the children to use on the day.

A special Thank ypo to all the local anglers that gave up their time to steward this event, without them giving up their time to help and advise the children the event wouldn't happen.
